On the last day of kindergarten we allowed Taytum to put her name in the drawing to bring home a class fish,(thinking what are the chances, 20 kids, three fish). But of course, she won. By the time we got it home changed it's water three times because the kids kept feeding it I wasn't surprised when I heard the words, " Percy's Dead!!!" at eight the next morning. I convinced her to wait to get a new one until we got home from vacation, "Dad will forget to feed it and kill it anyway."
As soon as we got home we got DIAMOND. We were going to get another goldfish, but the lady at Petco told me that it is considered inhumane to keep a gold fish in just a bowl of water. WHAT? maybe that is why none of mine lasted very long as a kid. Oh well. So we got a beta fish instead, their prettier anyways. Of course Taytum got a purple one. So far it's still alive. It is really allot of fun. She sits on the kitchen counter and watches me cook. Every time you go to the bowl or talk to her her little fins go so fast, just like a little puppy dog wagging it's tail. Even Gabe thinks it's pretty cool. He's the only one that calls it a he though.

Of course he calls it a he.... poor man is surrounded by so much estrogen. He has to dream right? Wait.. I have a man like that. Maybe we need to get him a boy fish. :)
Congratulations on Diamond!
We went through the same ordeal with goldfish and finally switched to the beta and kept "rainbow" for a couple of years until it went down the disposal while I was cleaning the bowel :( They are a pretty fish. Diamond will be fun!
